Art with kids. It’s nearly impossible, especially with really littles. Getting any personal stuff done is difficult, art specifically because there’s so many tools, and supplies, and focused time involved. I can hardly create any of my charcoal and pencil drawings anymore… I really need 2 hours of solid time uninterrupted to get a piece like that done. With the mess, it is just so complicated with the little ones. I’ve been trying to work on my digital art because it requires less overall, and no mess. Buuuuuut...of course sitting at my computer without my littlest needing attention every 5 minutes is a rare thing. So in order to maintain my mental health, I do need a little art therapy once in a while and Halloween is the perfect time for that.
FACE PAINTING!!!. I love face painting, I've been doing it for years on and off again. Halloween time gives me the chance to get a little painting - art therapy, and while taking care of my kids. Doing Art ON my kids, lets me be a good mom (ya know, THAT MOM, the one that does the awesome face painting on her kids for all the special occasions) and it allows me to be good to myself.
It’s still an enormous pain trying to do a good job on a little one who can’t help herself when I say “Hold Still” which she then interprets as scrunching up her face and shaking her body rapidly. It may be a small thing, like painting a Minnie Mouse on my child’s cheek, but to me it’s still a piece of art I created by hand and I still want it to look good. So it’s critical that I snap those photos right away, because it only takes 2 minutes for the art to be smeared down on Thing 2’s face. #momlife
